Dislocating my kneecap?

I have dislocated my kneecapo 2 days ago, i have now been put in a full leg brace and i have been told that i can walk on it for the next 3 weeks untill iam due back to the doctor again, There is no pain that i can feel the only thing i feel is discomfort when putting weight on it i can feel it clicking in and out i also still have alot of swelling above my knee which feels very squidgy..................how does this sound to p[eople who have had this problem and how long do i expect to be off the football field ????
